Abstract: | Objective To investigate and analyze the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes in patients with threatened abortion. Methods The medical records of 300 patients with threatened abortion were reviewed, and the relationship of TCM syndrome types with etiology, age, and gestational weeks was statistically analyzed. Results Kidney deficiency was the most frequent type of TCM syndrome in all patients with threatened abortion; blood heat was the main type of TCM syndrome in patients with unexplained threatened abortion, and kidney deficiency was the main type in those with threatened abortion caused by other factors; the mean age of onset was significantly higher in patients with syndromes of kidney deficiency class than in those with syndromes of other classes; threatened abortion occurred most frequently during 4-9 weeks of gestation, and kidney deficiency was the most common type of TCM syndrome. Conclusion Kidney deficiency is the basic syndrome of threatened abortion; kidney deficiency is the most common one in the TCM syndromes of kidney deficiency class, while blood heat is the most common one in the TCM syndromes of other classes; TCM syndrome types have a certain relationship with etiology, age, and gestational weeks in patients with threatened abortion. |
