WHEN 45-year-old Yu Li was in her youthful prime in the 1980s, so was the Shanghai skincare brand Maxam. Nowadays Maxam resides at the lower end of a Chinese beauty market flooded with myriad brand names from around the world. For Yu Li though, the local brand is still her favorite. "The best is what fits you personally. I prefer to stick with a product I know and trust rather than venturing into a new product and risk impairing my skin."  相似文献

THEY used to call me Private Enterprise Li (Li Minying), but I would rather be known as "Three F Li" (Li Sannong). It was by accident that I became an economist. At the very beginning of China's economic reform, I presented the concept of transforming China's economy through shareholding, and suggested that the private sector and the state-owned sector enjoy equal status in the economy. As a participant in economic policymaking in China I have witnessed a lot of changes to the People's Republic.  相似文献

LANGUAGE DILEMMA
Linguists and the government hope to preserve the diversity of China's languages When Xu Shixuan, a linguist from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, returned to a southwestern county bordering Myanmar in 2002 to study the local language after a nine-year interval, she was struck by the change to Li Xuewen, a master storyteller in the village. Xu could not relate the silent and listless old man with watery, turbid eyes to her vivid memory of Li reciting tales of his ancestors.  相似文献

Sometimes I sleep like a baby and sometimes I sleep like a log. For me, the baby aspect is defined by a series of interruptions with a quick fix in the bathroom or a snack from the fridge. The log is more like a stiffness accompanied by a metaphoric chain saw buzz from my apparently loud snoring. Insomnia, habitual sleeplessness, fortunately is not a friend of mine, but that's because I have experimented with different ways to make my forty winks longer, waken with an attitude to seize the day and not feel tired an hour after breakfast. Are you one of the estimated one half of the population who suffers from not enough shut-eye? Allow me to let you in  相似文献

FROM the very day you land in Beijing, either to become a fixed-term"Jinger" or to make Beijing or some other city your medium- to long-term home (as with many of us), all you need to become involved in the non- stop networking events put on for us in China is an email ad- dress. You will soon find that with a modicum of effort you are subscribed to tens if not hundreds of networking event mailing lists. In this article I'd like to offer a perspective on these gatherings, accord- ing to my time in China (nine years and counting), and some suggestions on how to get the most out of them.  相似文献

YANG Ruiqing, head of the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau of Altay, Xinjiang, got a call from Kazakhstan on the first of June this year. "Our vegetable supplies are low, pushing the prices sky high. Would you mind giving a produce fair by the end of the month to cool down the market a bit?" At the other end of the line was Chief of the Foreign Trade Administration for East Kazakhstan State. Before the local harvest season, vegetables there are always several times more expensive than those in neighboring Xinjiang. Yang routinely receives calls for help from his Kazakhstani counterpart at this time of the year.  相似文献

Honestly, aren‘t you sometimes getting just a little fed up with the noise and the grime of the city? So why not do something about your frustrations and head out to the Fragrant Hills? The place is well-known for its breath-taking views in autumn, when the leaves of the sumac trees change from a dusty green to brilliant gold and red, and the capital‘s citizens arrive in their thousands. In summer, walking in the shade of those trees is a welcome respite from the heat of the city, a popular place to cool down and chill out.  相似文献

QUESTION:I'm the director of the board of a big French company. Our services are all-round and perfect and we have achievements to our credit. Attracted by China's fast development, we set up a representative office in Beijing last year. Because of a certain reason, only a representative is in this representative office. This autumn, we want to extend our business and have two more representatives of this representative office. But we don't know how to handle this concerning procedures according to China's laws and regulations. Please tell us in details. We'll be extremely grateful to your help.  相似文献
