During the process of human rights protection worldwide, poverty is increasingly attracting attentions from the international community. CSHRS Delegation Visits Four Countries

Asix-member delegation of the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) headed by Deputy President Jin Jian paid a visit to Britain, France, Morocco and Egypt in December 10-27, 2002. This is the first delegation organized by CSHRS to visit the four countries and also the first such delegation visiting developing countries. The delegation made wide contacts in the four countries and exchanged views on human rights with officials, parliamentarians, non-governmental organizations, academic organizations and the media. Topics for discussion covered the human rights conditions in the four countries and China, development of non-governmental organizations, how to further cooperation, universality and particularity of human rights, judicial protection of human rights, protection of human rights of ethnic minorities, freedom of religious beliefs, human rights education and media and human rights.

Respect for Human Rights： a Fundamental Foundation for a World of Peace, Security and Harmony

Peace, security, harmonious development and human rights are closely related. Firstly, peace and security are premise and precondition for the insur-ance of human rights. 2016 ·China-Europe Seminar on Human Rights successfully took place on September 27 to 28, 2016 in Southwest University of Political Science and Law. The seminar was sponsored by China Society for Human Rights Studies, hosted by the Human Rights Research Institute of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and centered around the theme of the "Protection of Ethnic Minorities' Rights". More than 60 experts and scholars from six countries of Europe as well as China conducted in-depth discussions on the protection of economic, social and cultural rights, focusing on the protection of the rights of ethnic minorities. The participants agreed that enhancing cross-cultural consensus and promoting harmonious integration are essential for the cause of human rights protection for ethnic minorities and even for the overall progress of the human rights cause of all humankind.

On the Criminal Protection of the Right to Education of Chinese Citizens——With a Review on Article 32 of the Amendment to the Criminal Law(Ⅺ)

The Amendment(Ⅺ) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China responds to the institutional needs of civic education,and supplements the clause of the Criminal Law on protection of citizens' right to education nuy means of Article 32.Imposing legal responsibility in the form of internal punishments,administrative punishments,and economic compensation have failed to prevent infringements on citizens' right to education.Its role as a "secondary protection law" is the conceptual obstacle that hinders the Criminal Law from effectively intervening in the field of citizens' right to education.The equivalence between the legal interests of people to the right to education and the rights protected by the existing charges in the Criminal Law is the legitimate basis for it to intervene in disputes over the right to education.Based on Article 32 of the Amendment(Ⅺ) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China,it is suggested to further clarify the prepositional law,improve the liability provisions for the right to education,change the modest and restrained view of the Criminal Law regarding protection of the right to education,and expand the behavior types of Article 32 provided in the Amendment(Ⅺ) in due time.
