Gtreat expectations rest upon the U.S. and China, as the biggest economies in the developed and developing worlds, with regard to tackling challenges in the global economy and building a new world order. China＇s Role in the Post-2015 International Development Agenda

after meetings of the UN Millennium Development Goals （MDGs） in 2010, especially the Rio ＋ 20 Summit on Sustainable Development, there have been increasingly frequent debates on the post-2015 international development agenda （hereinafter referred to as ＂the post-2015 agenda ＂）. From May to July 2013, the UN released three key reports on this issue.1 In September, the 68th UN General Assembly discussed laying a foundation for the post-2015 agenda.2 The UN will then set the final post-2015 agenda and expand inter-governmental negotiations by September 2014 so that it can be passed by the General Assembly in 2015 and be launched on ! January 2016. China urgently needs to establish a comprehensive and forward-looking engagement strategy to ensure a proper focus for the post-2015 agenda and promote the establishment of a new global partnership for development.

China's rise has focused international attention in recent years and China Studies now tops the agenda of academia and decision-making circles around the world.The reasons can be traced to tremendous transformations that have occurred in China since it launched reforms and opening-up policies. These changes have given rise to adjustments in the global economy and ensuing shifts in the North-South power balance. In fact, China has increasingly evolved into a driving force for the global economy,providing it with opportunities for expansion and providing it with a more spacious, relaxed environment.
