Law is the fundamental method of governance and the rule of law symbolizes modern civilization. The socialist rule of law is the rule of law rooted in the Chinese tradition, and designed and led by the Communist Party of China(CPC). It is not only a tool for government, but also a driver of social progress. Meanwhile, the Chinese human rights system is also designed by the CPC. Both concepts—the socialist rule of law and the human rights system——are different from the West in terms of theory, path and systems. Human rights are the fundamental values of and the ultimate goal pursued by the rule of law; and the rule of law is the recognition of and guarantee for human rights. Efforts must be made to advance legislative, administrative and judicial protection of human rights.  相似文献

SCIENCE and technology have raised the level of the material life and culture of humankind but also can undermine peace and the people's well-being. To make science serve peace is the common desire of men and women of goodwill in the world. In 1986, the United Nations initiated activities for the International Year of Peace. Later, programmes to mark the International Week of Scientists for Peace were organized in a number of countries. The enlarged scope of such activities in 1987 caught the great attention of the international community and the U.N., so a resolution was adopted at the 43rd Session of the U.N.  相似文献

September 2005 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Tibet Autonomous Region. In anticipation of the event, our August issue carries a series of reports on the region and its people. Tibet's unique natural and cultural environment is a source of fascination to people both inside and outside of China. As overseas Ti-hetan scholar Jambyang Norbu observes, the fondly perceived image of the "Roof of the World" is that it is the Shangri-La of nature, culture and Tibetan Buddhism.  相似文献
