Third China Xinjiang International Children’s Art Festival

The Third International Children’s Art Festival of Xinjiang, China,sponsored by the Xinjiang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (XPAFFC) and presented by the Urumqi No. 67 Middle School, was held in Urumqi from July 20 to 26.Seventeen children’s art troupes comprising 300 students in all took part, including nine troupes with 140 students from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Tajikistan, India, the Republic of Korea, and Mongolia. Badai Culture and Art Festival

On February 17, 2013, the eighth day of the first lunar month, in the Miao village of Wodazhao in Huahuan County of Xiangxi, Hunan, the scene at the Willow Pond was one of great animation, bustle and noise： the first Badai Culture and Art Festival was taking off in grand style. Thousands of Miao people from Huahuan, Jishou, Fenghuang and Baojing in Hunan, and Songtao in Guizhou congregated here, dressed in festive finery, to celebrate together with visitors from all parts. It was a varied spectacle, including the grand Miao ritual of bull sacrifice, folk dances in original form, dragon and lion dances, Miao arts, folk songs, drumming and dramas, all to celebrate the Spring Festival, to pray for good weather, bumper harvests, thriving businesses, and a peaceful and prosperous nation in the newly- arrived year. It was also a curtain-raiser for the start of the spring tilling by the Miao farmers.

The 2003 Pingyao International Photography Festival was successfully celebrated belween September 16 and 22. More than 190 exhibitions, totaling some 10,000 photos, from 14 countries were on public view. Other highlights included the opening ceremony featuring a gala concert “Let‘s Meet in Pingyao”; four photography forums; the unveiling of Pingyao International Photography Museum; the award-giving ceremonies sponsored by two multinationals; a temple fair and Shanxi pasta show. Totally, 128 foreign guests and 3,480 domestic visitors from 20 provinces and municipalities as well as Hong Kong attended the festival. The 2003 Pingyao International Photography Festival has once again played an exemplary role in opening Shanxi wider to the outside world, raising its profile, boosting its tourist industry, and pushing Shanxi further on the road to a culture-strong province.

The unveiling ceremony of the bronze bust of Jose Marti created by Yuan Xikun was held jointly by the Cuban Embassy to China and the Beijing Jintai Art Museum on the museum's front lawn in Chaoyang Park, on 12 October. The bronze is another masterpiece by Yuan Xikun, who was awarded the "Art for Peace" medal by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture on 20 August, after completing a bust of Deng Xiaoping.
