CSHRS Delegation Visits Four Countries

Asix-member delegation of the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) headed by Deputy President Jin Jian paid a visit to Britain, France, Morocco and Egypt in December 10-27, 2002. This is the first delegation organized by CSHRS to visit the four countries and also the first such delegation visiting developing countries. The delegation made wide contacts in the four countries and exchanged views on human rights with officials, parliamentarians, non-governmental organizations, academic organizations and the media. Topics for discussion covered the human rights conditions in the four countries and China, development of non-governmental organizations, how to further cooperation, universality and particularity of human rights, judicial protection of human rights, protection of human rights of ethnic minorities, freedom of religious beliefs, human rights education and media and human rights.     

First Training Course for Leading Members of Arab Countries' Friendship-with-China Organizations Held in Beijing

From May 21 to 30,a training course for leading members of the Arab countries’ friendship-with-China organizations jointly sponsored by the CPAFFC and the China-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA) was held in Beijing. CPPCC Vice Chairman Abdul' ahat Abdulrixit Visits Zambia and Namibia

Chinese Investment in Italy

At the 12th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held on September 8-11 in Xiamen, Fujian Province, government officials and entrepreneurs from all over the world canvassed Chinese entrepreneurs and investors to invest in their countries. Foreign countries and regions rented 16,000 square meters of exhibition space, an increase of more than 50 percent from last year. Among the 74 participating countries and regions, more than 50 held seminars about their invest- ment environments. Besides the Caribbean countries and underdeveloped African nations that are actively attracting investment, developed countries such as the Untied States, Germany, France, Italy and Sweden also showed extraordinary enthusiasm in trying to win over Chinese investors.
