Contemporary Kazakh Elites and Social Transformation

This paper takes the elites in Kazakh politics as the object of study,analyzes the formation process and composition of Kazakh elites in a historical context,and explores the relationship between the transition of Kazakh society and elite transformation.The Kazakh has been founded in more than 500 years,which has undergone two fundamental political and social transformations,such as socialization during the Soviet period and capitalization after independence.In the course of this transition,the Kazakh elite has gone through three revolutions,two crises and a restructuring.Each elite evolution took place in the context of a complex external environment,with the core issues and driving forces being the resolution of external threats and the unification of internal forces.As Kazakhstan is located in the center of Eurasia and has far-reaching historical,spiritual and economic ties with the East and the West,any geopolitical game in the country will affect the surrounding areas and exacerbate regional geopolitical risks.In this process,although Kazakh elites play a particularly important role in shaping national development,the changes in the external security environment and the resulting political pressure always affect the political options and development direction of Kazakh elites.
