Historical Shift of the American Global Strategy in Carter Years (Ⅱ)

Jimy Carter was one of the rare American presidents who sincerely committed themselves to promoting the world peace. In his presidency, he made unremitting efforts to restrain the armament competition between United States and Soviet Union, and to reduce the international tension. Owing to the efforts he made, he was awarded Nobel Prize of peace. Nevertheless, because his peace-oriented diplomacy inevitably offended the interests of the extreme conservatives at home, and unfortunately encountered the impact of the Soviet's hegemony abroad as well, his foreign policy had frequently suffered setback and frustration. It will be of great consultative and instructive meaning to make a farther analysis of the internal and external causality of the special period of American diplomatic history.
