Both are former chairs of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Their coauthored books include Of Revelation and Revolution;(2 vols., 1991, 1997) and Ethnography and the Historical Imagination (1992). Singly and together they have written extensively on, among other things, colonialism and postcoloniality;modernity, democracy, and neoliberal capitalism;politics, law, and religion in Africa, focusing, in particular, on the Tswana peoples of southern Africa. Their current work is on crime and policing in postapartheid South Africa. |
