On the China Studies Group of the Communist International

The China studies group was a temporary institute formed in 1939 by the secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Communist International to prepare for guidelines for the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of China, whose leader Ren Bishi and senior cadres such as Lin Biao and Mao Zemin were members of the group. Historical materials about this group demonstrated that Ren Bishi, Lin Biao, and Mao Zemin upheld the spirit of the Party ＇ s Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee, correctly analyzed the situations of China＇ s anti-Jap- anese war, elaborated the Party＇s policy for the Anti-Japanese National United Front, and discussed the major problems need to be solved to persist in Kuomintang-Communist cooperation. The group ＇ s activities reflected the bias among senior cadres of the Communist International in favor of Jiang Jieshi and Kuomintang in China＇ s nation- al united front and overlook the independence of the Communist Party of China. In the end, their mistaken asser-tions failed to form into guiding advices.
