贵州省万山特区曾是中国最大的汞工业生产基地,有中国汞都之美誉。上世纪八十年代末,随着汞资源逐渐枯竭,汞矿生产日益萎缩,2009年被国务院列为全国第二批资源枯竭城市,享受国发〔2007〕38号文件各项优惠扶持政策。万山特区委、政府提出了工业强区、商贸活区、农业稳区、生态立区的发展思路,着力在两带两圈框架下建设贵州工业重镇,万山工业重新焕发生机。
