Gender Preference in Judges' Discourse during the Trial of Divorce Cases

The article explored judges' gender preferences for males by analyzing their wordings,tones and intonations,based on court hearing records and interviewing materials to judges,lawyers and parties.Combined with literature analyses,this article made an attempt to dig out in-depth causations underlying the gender preferences for males,such as the impact of women's changing images on the judges' policy choice of protecting the weak,the absence of gender consciousness and women's discourse in current frame of judicatory system in China,as well as the power setting of judges' discourse behind of gender issues.Moreover,this article added a new perspective to our understandings of one perfect judicatory system by drawing people's more attention to the groups in want of discourse power.
