Chinese Culture in the Eye of Nehru

Nehru, Indian nationalist leader and statesman, was the first prime minister of independent India. He is admired as the leader of freedom movement and the father of institutional democracy. His interest in Chinese culture took him much time to study Sino-Indian cultural exchange that had some influence on both nations' affairs. The author expresses his opinion on such issues as Nehru's theory of Chinese culture, his study on the problem of Sino-Indian cultural exchange and his alienation from Chinese culture in his old years.
