法学古文英译的原则问题

中国的法学古文化是世界法学文化水乳交融的一部分。完整、准确地将我国法学古文化向国外文化译介是语言学者和法律学者责无旁贷的工作。目前所出版的汉英翻译文献 ,其质量令人堪忧。本文提目前正式出版的部分古代法学论述的译文进行评论 ,提出了法律汉英翻译四原则 :准确性、简明性、严谨性、庄严性。

On Four Principles of Translating Classical Chinese Legal Works

The classical legal legacy of the ancient China is an integral part of the international legal science. It is an unshakable duty for both the language scholars and legal experts to further popularize the time-honored traditional Chinese legal culture worldwide. Nevertheless, the English versions published have some cause for concern. The authors in this thesis make comments on the English translation extracted from the Books of Sang, one of the most prominent classical Chinese works while producing their own English version and modern Chinese paraphrase, insisting that when translating, law translators should abide by four essential norms: accuracy, precisenss, strictness, and sincereness.
