Meaning of Taking an Oath Existing as a "Perverse Norm"

In certain communities, there are some “perverse norms” which can effectively regulate the relationship between man and man and the relationship between people and society, but they are not acknowledged by the main trend in society. Taking an oath is one of such norms. Being a super-experience, swearing tends to exist in a community having the same cultural background. Swearing derives from the integration of self-consciousness and human nature and is subject to a separate disciplinary structure, the value of whose dispute-resolution function in society can never be underestimated. Indeed, no norm exists that is without any defect. No society can exist that has only one social norm, especially a healthy and a harmonious society.
