Statement on Oceans and the Law of the Sea

In this 2005 statement, the Chinese representative commentson the state of the regime of the law of the sea, and on theactivities at the UN relating to the topic. He expresses China'sgeneral views on issues relating to fishery and the protectionof the marine environment, such as the need to keep a properbalance between (1) conservation and protection and (2) developmentand capacity building of developing countries.
