On the Adaptation Skills for the Transmission of Artistic Conception in Poetry Translation

The exchange between Chinese and Western cultures is being deeply conducted. Poetry, which is so concise, is the very effective may to describe customs abroad, and to promote harmonious communication. Artistic conception, as the highest level of the poetry, has been the focus of discussion in the field of translation, on whether it can be transmissed through trans- lation with equivalence. The study on the elements and adaption in poetry translation, which is, based on pragramatics, carried out in semantical and grammatic level, can be helpful to seek the scientific basis for the transmission of artistic conception. Further more, it can provide reference for further understanding not only the relationship between adaption and the pragramatic equivalence, but also how the translators can play subjective roles during the course of translation.
