Constructing Resistant Reading and Feminist Criticism --A Review of Kate Millett's Sexual Politics

The work Sexual Politics by Kate Millett is a milestone in feminist criticism. Starting with the sexual differences and by means of deconstruction, Kate Millett firstly attaches much importance to the re-reading of the text and to the re-evaluation of the sexual status in order to re-demonstrate the female images, Secondly, she breaks the conventional patterns of writing, reading and literary criticism, all of which used to center on male characters. Finally, she doubts the authority and accountability of male writers who are traditionally supposed to be in the only position to demonstrate the female images. Reading and analysing of the work from feminine life experience and aesthetic understanding can construct a feminist way of reading and criticism, which will in rum enhance the position of feminists as literary critics.
