柏拉图妇女观管窥

柏拉图的著名论著<理想国>前5章中关于妇女问题的论述,已基本具有男女平等的思想萌芽.他认为,男女应受同等教育;男女可担任同样的职务;男女在食、宿、行、子女等方面,享有同等权利,男女均不可拥有私有财产;爱情与婚姻上反对放纵、淫乱.即使在今天,他的这些观点和看法,也是符合科学根据和具有进步意义的.但是,柏拉图毕竟是唯心主义哲学家,他的妇女观还有严重的缺陷.

A Glimpse at Plato's Views on Women

In the first five chapters of his renowned REPUBLIC, Plato gives rise to the idea that men and women are equal. He observed that both men and women should receive education, that they should be given equal duties, that they enjoy equal rights in meals, living conditions, traveling and bringing up children, that they should not have private property. He also praises love and marriage and condemned dissipation and licen- tiousness. These ideas of his, even at present, are progressive and scientific. But he was an idealism philoso- pher after all. His views on women have vital flaws.
