Comments on the Ideas of Saving the Ecological Environment by Confucian Ethics

The idea of saving the ecological environment by Confucian ethics is narrow and incomplete in the understanding of the nature of ecological crisis, and it overestimates the global significance and modern value of the Confucian theory that man is an integral part of nature. The idea has a strong sense of self love orientation. It fails to provide constructively practical measures for environmental protection and it remains only at the superficial level of slogan and propaganda. Therefore, its practical significance is doubtful. Exploration to the solutions to ecological crisis must be made under the current situation of the world. Modern and contemporary ideas should be taken for consideration so that they can help establish up to date theories in favor of coordinate progress of both man and nature. Meanwhile, applied research should be encouraged.
