China's Strategy in Handling the Iraqi Crisis

The Iraqi war has come to an end, but the military success of the U.S.and Britain - led coalition forces does not at all signify that the Iraqi crisis is over. Each country has its own attitude towards the Iraqi issue. Proceeding from the world political situation after the September 11 and holding high the banner of maintaining world peace and solving the Iraqi crisis through political channels, China is playing its special role as a responsible major country within the framework of the United Nations, upholding the basic principles of international law and the United Nations Charter to its maximum and trying to promote the political pluralisation of the world. At the same time, China is also seeking and safeguarding its maximum interests and developing its relationship with the United States.
