日本殖民统治时期的台湾监狱研究

1895年5月,甲午海战之后,日本在台湾设立总督府进行殖民统治,并将西方现代监狱制度植入台湾.台湾监狱的管理机构几经变迁,最终由作为最高长官的台湾总督直接管辖.截至1945年败退台湾,日本在台相继新建台北、台中、台南、花莲港等8座监狱.这些监狱的典狱、看守等管理人员绝大多数来自日本国内,他们对台湾监狱里的罪犯进行分类分级管理.罪犯除了接受教诲师的教诲活动外,还需要参加劳动.台湾监狱这一系列变革是外来的日本统治者从外部输入的产物,尽管它具有一定的现代性,但依然改变不了其作为日本殖民统治工具的本质.

Exploring Taiwan Prisons during Japanese Colonization Period

Japan settled the Governor Palace in Taiwan after The Sino-Japanese War in May 1895 and brought the western modern prison system to Taiwan.However,the administrative organization of Taiwanese prison varied several times,and at last,the Governor supervised the prison affairs directly.There were eight prisons such as Taipei Prison,Taichung Prison,Tainan Prison and Hualian Prison,which were built by Japanese till 1945 when Japan withdrew from Taiwan.All the wardens and guards of these prisons were from Japan.They classified the criminals into different sorts and different levels.Besides accepting the moral instruction from the priests,the criminals must take part in labor.All these changes of Taiwanese prisons were input by Japanese dominator from outside.Although they had some extended modernity,the essential of the prisons was the tool of Japanese colonization.
