中等收入阶层在西方世界的兴起，使世界资本主义进入一个以大众阶层为主体的新发展时期，并带来国际关系的重大变化；伴随产业升级和吸引外来直接投资的多元化，中等收入阶层在日本和东亚其他国家现代化转型中开始扮演重要角色；发展中等收入阶层是我国在特定历史条件下发展开放型市场经济的前提条件和必然结果，也是我国在本世纪中叶达到中等发达水平、全面建成小康社会的客观要求。

The Important of Enlarging Medium- income Social Stratum in China

The rise of medium-income social stratum in the West marks a new development phase of global capitalism centering on the average class and brings a substantial change to international relations. With the industrial upgrade and the diversification of foreign direct investment , medium-income stratum began to play an important role in the transformation of state modernizations in Japan and other East Asian countries. The development of medium-income stratum is not only a prerequisite and an inevitable outcome of China's developing its open market economy under a certain historical condition, but also an objective requirement for China to attain the medium-developed level and to comprehensively build up a well-to-do society in the middle of this century.
