“半在尘世半为仙”:林语堂的信仰之旅

摘    要:儒、道哲学共同建构了林语堂人文精神的基础。一方面,他对儒家文化的现代实用价值给予充分肯定,认为儒家文化的精神本质归结为一种近情入理的“人文主义”。另一方面,林语堂对道家文化也推崇备至,认为道家“偏好自然与直觉”,“为中国思想之浪漫派”。然而,在儒道之间,林语堂陷入“入世”与“出世”的“一捆矛盾”中。但智慧的他,“达”则于儒,“穷”则于道,亦儒亦道,亦孔亦庄,留其所当留,融会贯通,既执着于尘世中一切的“荣华”需求,又追慕庄子的“仙风道骨”,逍遥自由。“半在尘世半为仙”,成就了林语堂的信仰之旅。

Abstract:Both Confucian and Tao's philosophy constructed the base of Lin's humanistic spirit.He gave the affirmation to the practical modern worth of Confuciansism and thought that the essence of Confucianism was a kind of proper way of 'Humanism';on the other hand,Taoism was also recommended by Lin,and he considered Tao "prefering nature and sense",and "the Romantic class of Chinese thought".However,between Confucianism and Taoism, Lin was often in the contradiction between"into-society"and"out-society". But with his wisdom, he believed in the"achievement"from Confucianism and the "lack"from Taoism, just taking the two beliefs' advantages for himself. From both Confucianism and Taoism, he pursued the achievements in the society and the Zhuang's freedom as god. "Semi God Life and Semi Human Being"is his belief career.
