Abstract: | With the deepening of reform and opening-up policy, economic, civil and commercial activities and exchanges between the Mainland and Hong Kong become more and more frequent, resulting in a demand on both sides for cross-border legal services. Hong Kong follows common law system and tradition which are quite different with the civil law system in the Mainland, especially in aspects of legal procedures and requirements of certificates. The situation calls for a sound mechanism for residents and businesses from one side conducting civil and commercial activities on the other side. The system of China-Appointed Attesting Officers satisfies this need as it offers a more convenient legal instrument. |
