Reputation Pays: Game Theory as a Tool for Analyzing Political Profit from Credibility*

The article provides a general account of information problems in politics and games, and an analytical exploration of reputation effects in politics in terms of game theory. It is shown. by three game theoretical examples, that reputation effects may in some circumstances lie of essential importance in determining optimal choices.
