In Guan Hanqing's poetic dramas, most themes are about women who are from different social strata. The kinds of images appear dumb bell form. The have the same characters, that is they are chasing their own happiness and not only have they fixed aims, but also make unremitting efforts. Owing to their different class origins, experiences and characters, they have different understanding of "happiness". But choosing happiness is their principle and power. It is this general premise that makes them choosing different careers and characters.
