马克思主义历来十分重视对社会结构、阶级、阶层的研究和分析,并把它作为制定政策和策略的重要理论依据。中国共产党依据中国革命、建设和改革不同历史时期社会结构的变化和特点,尤其是改革开放后非公有制经济和新的社会阶层的出现,明确提出新的社会阶层都是中国特色社会主义事业的建设者,这一科学论断成为中国特色社会主义理论体系的主要内容。

Marxism has always been attaching much importance to the study and analysis of social structure,class and strata,and takes it as an important theoretical basis for formulating policies and strategies.Based on the changes and features of social structure in different historical stages of Chinese revolution,construction and reform,especially the emergence of non-public economy and new social strata after the reform and opening-up,the CPC clearly indicates that "the new social strata is the constructor of the socialism with Chinese characteristics".Such a scientific judgment becomes the major part of the theory on socialism with Chinese characteristics.
