香港修例风波背后的深层次问题

Deep-seated Problems Exposed by Hong Kong’s Extradition Law Protest

The Extradition Law Protest of Hong Kong,which broke out in 2019,is the most serious political crisis of Hong Kong since its return to the motherland.It is also the biggest challenge for the implementation of“One Country,Two Systems”in Hong Kong.Nevertheless,the Extradition Law Protest has also exposed a number of factors and circumstances that seriously hamper the comprehensive and accurate implementation of“One Country,Two Systems”.They include among other things the grave threat to national security,the loss of balance between the“liberal”and the“authoritarian”components of Hong Kong’s political system,the disruption caused by the“alternative interpretation”of“One Country,Two Systems”,the fragility of the“core values”of Hong Kong,the prevalence of the“pro-West,anti-China”mentality,the weakness of education in the Constitution and the Hong Kong Basic Law,and the shortcomings of the free-wheeling capitalist system of Hong Kong.The central authorities are cognizant of these factors and circumstances and have devised strategies to deal with some of them.As thus,more favorable conditions for the comprehensive and accurate implementation of“One Country,Two Systems”in the future are created.
