书院起源于唐朝,是以藏书为先导和后盾,传播学术文化和培养人才的基地。书院承担着搜集、收藏图书,讲学或学术研究,开展祭祀活动等重要功能。现代图书馆和书院有着千丝万缕的联系,其发展仅仅依赖科技的进步是不够的,它的作用可以借鉴书院的理念得到更为充分的发挥。

Ancient academy,originated in the Tang Dynasty,is a collection of books as a guide and backing,dissemination of academic and cultural and personnel training base.Academies undertake the gathering,collect books,lecturing or academic research,offer sacrifices to god or ancestors,and other important function.Modern library and academy are closely related,that its development only depend on the progress of technology is not enough,the role of it can be more sufficiently played by reference to the concept of academy.
