As a typical intellectual of“Urban and Rural Cross Areas”,Gao Jialin,a character in Lu Yao’s sto-ry,still shows timeless unique charm.Living in the countryside,but yearning the city life,this feature makes Gao Jialin a representative of the young people in rural areas.And his suffering in love is also a prominent is-sue of the time.This paper attempts to examine Gao Jialin’s psychological desire and emotional entanglement with Huang Yaping and Liu Qiaozhen,with reference to the paradox of“red rose and white rose”to interpret Life.
