2007年以来,气候变化已成为澳大利亚国内政治的最重要议题,可以被视为澳大利亚寻求经济转型的国家的主动性努力。澳大利亚的议会制民主政治特征,决定了这一寻求全国共识过程的政治体现是痛楚、挫折和多变。在最近三年多时间里,澳大利亚两位在任的总理及两位在任的反对党领导人,皆因气候变化议题而丧失了执政权或党内领导权;并且还提前举行了一次联邦大选。然而,澳大利亚的气候经济转型会继续前行,并继续会受到国内政治因素和国际气候谈判进程的影响。
