| 摘 要： | 泰国的东北部地区是东南亚老族人最多的地区。这个地区的老族,是在泰族控制这个地区之前从今天的老挝这一带移居到过去的。随着泰族对这个地区的控制和现代泰国版图的形成,这些老族成了泰国的国民。今天,泰国官方把他们称为北方泰族。但是,由于这一带地区的主要居民的历史和和文化与今天老挝的主体民族老族有着十分密切的联系,他们中的许多人仍然自认为是老族人,现在国际学术界也仍然还把这些居民称为老族人。

| Abstract: | Most of Lao-speaking people live in northeastern Thailand rather than in Laos today.The Lao there came from today's Laos before the Thai controlled today's northeastern Thailand.With the formation of modern Thailand the Lao there became the citizens of Thailand.Now they are callednorthern Thaiinstead of Lao in Thailand,although some of them still call themselves Lao and are closely related to the Lao in Laos. |
