Romantic Pursuit of Frye＇s Poetics

Romanticism study,as the basic pursuit of Frye＇s poetics, has a central position in Frye＇s poetic system. Frye believes that romanticism achieved a cultural revolution of transforming traditional theological ＂mythology＂ into a new humanistic ＂mythology＂ through displacement and recreation of archetypes in pre-romanticist literature. Taking romantic poet William Blake as a case, Frye elaborates on how Blake＇s poetry subverted traditional interpretation of the Holy Bible and recreated a ＂Bible of the Hell＂ through displacing the narrative structures and archetypal images of the biblical myths.
