Special Issue Introduction: Thriving Across the Adolescent Years: A View of the Issues

Framed within a relational developmental systems model, the 4-H Study of positive youth development (PYD) explored the bases and implications of thriving across much of the second decade of life. This special issue pertains to information derived from the recently completed eight waves of the 4-H Study of PYD, and presents findings about the relations between individual and contextual variables that are involved in the thriving process. This introduction briefly reviews the historical background and the theoretical frame for the 4-H Study and describes its general methodology. We provide an overview of the articles in this special issue and discuss the ways in which the articles elucidate different facets of the thriving process. In addition, we discuss the implications of this research for future scholarship and for applications aimed at improving the life chances of diverse adolescents.     

Special Issue Introduction: The Meaning and Measurement of Thriving: A View of the Issues

We introduce this special issue on the foundations and functions of adolescent thriving by summarizing the developmental systems theory-based, positive youth development (PYD) perspective. The PYD perspective frames much of contemporary research about health and positive development across the adolescent period and, more specifically, frames the 4-H Study of PYD, the data set from which the empirical work in this special issue is drawn. We discuss the different ways in which the articles in this special issue elucidate different facets of the PYD perspective. In addition, we summarize the implications of this research for future scholarship and for applications aimed at improving the life chances of diverse adolescents.

我国的<劳动合同法>对无固定期限劳动合同制度做了重大改变,引起许多争议,有必要对其进行法律探讨.无固定期限劳动合同制度符合社会法理念,在强制续签、解雇保护、违约责任等制度设计上应区别固定期限劳动合同,同时在相关法条的可操作性方面仍需要加强.     

对劳动合同制度若干问题的探讨

我国《劳动法》及有关劳动合同制度的法律法规是在1994年、1995年制订的,本身具有一定的局限性,加上我国市场经济体制日渐完善和加入世贸组织,现行的劳动法律法规已经不适应市场经济的发展要求。本文通过对劳动合同制度中常见的若干问题进行分析和探讨,指出现行劳动法律规定的一些缺陷,并对其修改提出一些建议。     

Communication with Best Friends About Sex-Related Topics During Emerging Adulthood

During emerging adulthood, relationships with close friends may be particularly important and influential, yet most research on communication about sex-related topics focuses on emerging adults' communication with parents. Two hundred and five college students (61% female, mean age = 20.5) completed surveys about the frequency and quality of their sex-related conversations with same-sex best friends, and their sexual attitudes and behaviors. These conversations were more frequent between females, and between less religious youth. Sexually active youth discussed most topics more frequently than abstinent youth, although abstinent youth discussed abstinence more frequently. More frequent and comfortable conversations were generally associated with more liberal sexual attitudes, and more positive condom-related attitudes. Differential associations between the specific topics discussed and attitudes about sexuality, HIV, and condoms highlight the importance of examining multiple dimensions of sex-related communication rather than the unidimensional measures typically employed.

近几年来,企业社会责任已经成为学术界和企业界的热点问题。无论是学术界还是实业界更多的从法律的视角看待企业社会责任,主张企业社会责任认证与立法。其实,企业社会责任的实质是企业对社会的道义责任。道德责任是一种理性而自觉的责任,强制推行只能解决形式问题,解决不了实质问题。企业社会责任的推行和普及,应当分三步走。第一,通过宣传使企业树立社会责任理念和公民意识;第二,企业依其不同发展阶段和不同实力水平来承担相应社会责任;第三,企业社会责任立法阶段。     

构建和谐劳动关系中值得思考的几个问题

劳动与资本的利益关系是社会最基本的利益关系,劳资矛盾是市场经济中不可回避的矛盾。要使劳资关系在和谐的轨道上运行,就必须正视劳资之间的利益矛盾,并通过制度化的手段平衡双方力量,规范双方行为,实现制度化的合作。为此,无论是工会,还是企业和政府,都应承担责任,积极作为。     

关于集体合同履行若干问题的研究

集体合同履约难一直是集体合同实施中存在的难点问题。当前,集体合同履约难的问题已经对集体合同制度的顺利实施构成了障碍。因此,需要加快完善集体合同立法及其配套的法律制度和措施。     

关于物流货运司机入会若干法律问题的思考

互联网数据信息时代,国内物流货运业迅猛发展,货运司机队伍不断壮大。把货运司机吸收到工会组织中来,是工会参与社会治理,维护社会稳定的需要。但在物流货运行业试点组建工会和吸引司机入会工作中,在法律层面上遇到了一些难题。建议采用综合要素标准认定是否为劳动关系,放宽入会资格条件,创新新业态下的工会经费保障机制,积极推动优化现行的社会保障机制,做好对物流货运司机会员的维权服务工作。

Special issue1 on Agrarian movements in Bihar: Comments on a review article

Henningham is taken to task for his misleading review article in The Journal of Peasant Studies (Vol.11, No. 4, July 1984) on the Special Issue on ‘Agrarian Movements in India: Studies on Twentieth Century Bihar’ (Vol.9, No.3, April 1982). It is suggested that Henningham seriously misrepresents the arguments in the Special Issue and uses his ‘review article’ as a vehicle for expounding the views presented in his own book, published in 1982.

Summary

The Zweig Center for Special Education, based on the heritage and history of kibbutz special education, is a model for the school-university partnership and of the professional development school. This model integrates kibbutz education with special education in a unique way.

Kibbutz education is traditionally non-selective, emphasizing an educating society/environment; the integration of educational factors; the integration of society, studies, and work; active learning; informal methods; autonomy in the children's society; and autonomy of educational staff. These make possible schools as laboratories of community partnerships, training opportunities, and action research that show the varieties of school-university partnership and professional development schools.
