A Brief Review of Current International Situation and China＇s Diplomacy

The current international situation is volatile and highly complicated with abrupt changes. Various contradictions develop successively, and different challenges present them- selves one after another.     

The Prospects of Obama Administration＇s Foreign Policy

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama sworn in as the first African-American President of the United States. More than two million people witnessed this unforgettable moment in American history in glacial wind. Obama took office with high expectation from the people and ushered in ＂a new era of Obama administration＂.     

A Comparative Analysis of Abe＇s and Fukuda＇s Asia Diplomacy

As Abe was replaced by Fukuda, Japan＇s domestic and foreign policies were also amended. Abe＇s ＂proactive diplomacy＂ has been replaced by Fukuda＇s ＂synergy diplomacy＂ which emphasizes strengthening the Japan-U.S. alliance and Japan＇s ties with Asia. Abe＇s diplomacy toward Asia was characterized by ＂value oriented diplomacy＂, whereas Fukuda seeks to carry out ＂active diplomacy toward Asia＂ after his cabinet was formed. The changes in foreign policy of the Abe and Fukuda cabinets show that Japan＇s nationalist foreign policy is evolving in twists and turns from being radical to being more rational against the backdrop of domestic and international political reality. To explore this change and its causes is conducive to the better understanding of some features of Japan＇s diplomacy toward Asia.     

On the Obama Administration＇s Latin America Policy

Unlike his predecessor George W. Bush whose Latin America policy is characterized with strong unilateralism, President Obama, while putting Latin America higher on his foreign policy agenda, has adopted an accommodating approach to the region in the aim of improving once rigid, even tense relations with countries in the region. However, as it has not fundamentally changed its hegemonic and arrogant habit, it is difficult for the Obama administration to ＂reset＂ its relations with Latin American countries.     

Future of Germany＇s Policy of Active Diplomacy

When the German Grand Coalition formed by the two major parties of the Bundestag came to power in December 2013, the new government discontinued its constrained foreign policy profile and, by sending out signals of adjustment, expressed its ＂big power ambition.＂ The reality of German proactivity became obvious to the international community during the Ukraine crisis and the U.S. hacking incident. Although factors from German history will slow the full implementation of this policy in the near future, the country cannot but succeed in developing its position among big powers.     

A Harmonious World and China＇s New Diplomacy

The concept of"a harmonious world,"a phrase used by the incumbent leadership of China to encapsulate China's diplomatic goals,has become a new guideline for China's diplomatic activities.By applying this concept, Chinese diplomacy has taken a new turn,pushing China into a new and powerful role in world affairs.China's diplomatic effort,however still faces numerous problems,challenges and risks,requiring the Chinese leadership to refine the concept of"harmonious world"through creative thinking and application.     

Great Reform of China＇s Diplomacy

With the implementation by China of the policy of reform and opening to the outside world, China＇s diplomacy has undergone a great reform of profound significance, and has made outstanding achievements. China＇s development and its diplomacy supplement, enrich and promote each other. The former provides good conditions for the latter＇s development, while the latter safeguards China＇s sovereignty and territorial integrity, creates a peaceful international environment for the country＇s cause of socialist construction with Chinese characteristics, and makes remarkable contributions to the great undertaking of reform and opening-up and the Four Modernizations.     

International the Chinese Recognition of Rejuvenation——Retrospect on China＇s Diplomacy over Thirty Years of Reform and Opening-up

The thirty years of reform and opening-up are an importanthistorical period in China＇s national rejuvenation. This period has witnessed the triumphant advance and great changes in its foreign relations. For China, the outside world has never been closer. For the world, China is becoming a more and more significant or even indispensable factor.

When formulating its Central Asia diplomacy,China should take four basic factors into consideration; or China should formulate it on the common basis of the following four basic factors:1, China's overall diplomatic thinking and principles.2,

After three decades of reform and opening up, China＇s diplomacy displays the following ten features： 1. the three interlocked goals of development, sovereignty and responsibility; 2. maintaining ＂a low profile＂ while ＂acknowledging some accomplishments＂; 3. a principled, yet restrained stance in pushing for an improved international order. 4. multi-tiered, mutually complementary diplomatic endeavors; 5. four close-knit diplomatic fronts; 6. the intrinsically compatible concepts of ＂a harmonious society＂ and ＂a harmonious world＂; 7. the renewed principle of non-intervention; 8. the evolving ＂people first＂ concept thinking; 9. guidelines with continuity and innovation; 10. an orderly, gradualist diplomacy diplomatic transition.     

New Bright Spot in China＇s Diplomacy： Cooperation with Emerging Countries

The current world, experiencing fast changes, is in a crucialtransitional period of realignment immediate reason for such a change of various powers. The is that after decades of development, a group of developing countries represented by China have come into prominence to become new ＂emerging countries＂ with rising political and economic status in the world.
