A Fantasy Land

I have been a doctoral student at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China since 2017. My studies in China give me the opportunity to explore a China different from the one I've seen on TV and read about in books. What happens in the university and the larger society has always been interesting to me. As I learned that this year marked the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, it reminded me that I had been here for several years, and inspired me to share my own experiences.

所谓"中国模式",就是由中国特色社会主义道路所决定并与之相伴随的中国发展模式.这个模式的主要参照系有两个:一个是苏联模式;一个是西方模式.中国模式的最主要特征就是中国共产党领导下威权政治与市场经济的有机结合.这种模式有鲜明的中国特色,是由中国特殊历史背景和现实国情所决定的,因此其可复制性较低.中国模式已经受到国际社会的广泛关注,而且也确实显示出了生命力.中国模式中的许多因素可以为其他发展中国家借鉴.尽管中国模式仍面临着许多严峻挑战,但是随着中国特色社会主义事业的推进,中国模式的影响力会越来越大.     

"世界文学":从乌托邦想象到审美现实

"世界文学"最早由歌德提出,后来经过马克思和恩格斯的重新阐释,逐渐打上了文化全球化的烙印.经过100多年的历史演变和发展,世界文学已经从早先的"乌托邦"想象逐步演变发展成为一种审美现实.世界文学之所以在不同的语境中有不同的版本,与翻译的中介不无关系.正是由于翻译的干预,一些原本仅具有国别/民族文学特征的文学作品成了世界文学.判断一部作品是否属于世界文学,必须依据以下几个标准:1.是否把握了特定的时代精神;2.其影响是否超越了本国/民族或本民族语言的界限;3.是否收入后来的研究者编选的文学经典选集;4.是否能够进入大学课堂;5.是否在另一语境下受到批评性的研究.虽然"世界文学"概念的提出有助于中国文学,但中国文学在世界的地位却十分边缘.为了早日使中国文学跻身世界文学之林,当前翻译的主要方向应该由外译中转向中译外,这样才能有效实施中国文化和文学走向世界的战略.
