Small business size standards; health care. Small Business Administration. Final rule

The Small Business Administration is adopting new size standards for 19 Health Care industries and retaining the existing $5 million size standard for the remaining 11 Health Care industries. The North American Industry Classification System classifies Health Care industries under Subsector 621, Ambulatory Health Care Services; Subsector 622, Hospitals; and Subsector 623, Nursing and Residential Care Facilities. These revisions are made to more appropriately define the size of businesses in these industries that SBA believes should be eligible for Federal small business assistance programs.

This notice is a request for review of and comment on the Draft Guideline for Infection Control in Health Care Personnel, 1997. The guideline consists of two parts: Part 1. "Infection Control Issues for Health Care Personnel, an Overview" and Part 2. "Recommendations for Prevention of Infections in Health Care Personnel", and was prepared by the Hospital Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC), the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID), the National Immunizations Program, and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), CDC.     

Removal of certain limitations on cost comparisons related to contracting out of activities at VA health-care facilities--VA. Final rule

This document amends the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Acquisition Regulations (VAAR) by removing certain limitations on cost comparisons related to contracting out of activities at VA health-care facilities that are not direct patient care activities nor incident to direct patient care. This reflects statutory changes made by the Veterans' Health Care Eligibility Reform Act of 1996 (Pub. L. 104-262).
