苹果公司:就“降速门”赔偿美国用户5亿美元根据2020年3月2日公开的法庭文件显示,美国苹果公司就降速门集体诉讼与美国国内消费者达成和解,苹果公司同意支付赔偿金,但否认存在不当行为。购买iPhone 7以及更老型号的苹果手机用户有资格获得赔偿,赔偿总额介于3.1亿美元(1美元约等于7.1087元人民币)和5亿美元之间,消费者平均获赔金额根据索赔数量在25美元上下浮动。美国有线电视新闻网报道,此次和解针对的是美国国内消费者。

法国:可以通过烟草店缴纳税款、罚款法国《20分钟报》当地时间2月24日报道,法国公共财政总局和全国烟草店联合会宣布,从24日起,法国民众可以通过烟草店缴纳税款、罚款、医疗费用、孩子学校的伙食费和托儿费,甚至公共泳池费用。实施该政策的首批法国省份有10个,预计2020年7月1日可覆盖全法国。

保护珊瑚礁:太平洋岛国帕劳禁用部分防晒产品环球网报道,当地时间自2020年1月1日起,太平洋岛国帕劳实施严格新法,禁止使用含对珊瑚礁有害成分的防晒乳液,违者罚1000美元(约合人民币6901.9元)。据悉,帕劳是全球第一个立法禁用部分防晒产品的国家。此外,该国也于同一天设立全球最大的海洋保护区之一。帕劳总统雷门格绍说:我们必须尊重所居住的环境,因为环境是孕育生命之所。没有它,帕劳人也无法生存。

据希腊媒体2020年3月7日报道,前一天下午,有12名叙利亚籍非法移民在希腊雅典国际机场试图乘航班前往奥地利共和国时遭到希腊警方拘捕。据介绍,这些非法移民身穿运动装,号称某体育俱乐部下属的手球队。经查验,警方发现其中11人所持护照的照片页均被伪造的文件所替换;另一人所持护照上的智能信息则是其他人的。

正式废除鞭刑,沙特司法改革的重要一步据《环球时报》驻埃及特派记者报道,沙特阿拉伯最高法院于2020年4月24日宣布,该国已正式废除鞭刑,改为其他惩罚手段。此举标志着,在沙特阿拉伯实行多年的鞭刑从此消失。废除鞭刑,也被认为是沙特阿拉伯司法改革进程向前迈出的“重要一步”。

希腊交通部出新规:堵塞主干道超1小时将受重罚希腊欧联通讯社报道,希腊交通部于2020年1月30日前出台新规定,在希腊高速公路和国道上阻碍交通的司机或企业,将被处以最高达100万欧元(1欧元约等于7.6428元人民币)的罚款。

Design protection Italian style

Legal context and key points. The particular geographical structureof Italy has favoured the development of parallel cultures thatin the past competed not only with spears and arrows, but alsowith works of art -hence, the particular sensitivity of theItalians for design. The Community regime of design is highly unsatisfactory, andthe "individual character" required for protection is an evanescentconcept. "Design approach" is a sexy expression, but devoidof practical significance. The risk is therefore of excessiveprotection, of the hugely and non-distinctive.This is not welcomedby the Italians and may also damage the development of design. Practical significance. An independent (non-judicial) body hasbeen created in Italy, to adjudge (or rather, advise) when awork of design deserves protection. It is suggested that a similarindependent body be created on a European scale (and perhapsthis Journal may function as a catalyst for this endeavour).     

Gotham unbound Dutch style

An inquiry committee of the Dutch parliament concluded that the capital Amsterdam – and especially the famous Red light district – is a centre of national and international organized crime. The city of Amsterdam set up a project to develop and implement an administrative approach to combat the organized crime problem: the Van Traa-project. This project is internationally recognized as a successful example of such an approach. Elaborating on an evaluation study this article critically analyses the policy theory and the effects of this project. This analysis shows that the assumptions that underlie the project are debatable, or proved hard to employ in practice. Despite the fact that in the policy plans the necessity of a multi-agency approach is stressed, external parties such as the police and the public prosecutors department take a rather passive stand, preventing the administrative approach of becoming a part of a truly integrative approach to organized crime. Furthermore, this article proves that it is hard to confirm this successfulness in a sound scientific manner. Many positive results can be observed, but it remains unclear to what extent these results have an impact on organized crime. Although some indications of a plausible impact of the measures taken in the Van Traa-project on organized crime were found, this article also refers to some indications of counterproductive effects.
