Launched in 2002, the Human Rights magazine operates under the auspices of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, a non-governmental organization in SPECIAL consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The magazine is the first of its kind ever published in China. While devoted to theoretical studies of human rights and human rights education, it provides a forum for dialogue between China and foreign countries on human rights-related issues.

4月18日，由《人权》杂志社举办的“科学发展观与人权”理论研讨会在北京举行，来自中国社会科学院、中央党校、北京大学、中国人民大学、中国政法大学、空军指挥学院、中国人权研究会的10余名专家学者，就科学发展观的人权内涵、科学发展观与人权的关系、科学发展观对人权理论与实践的指导作用、人权建设纳入《“十一五”规划纲要》的意义等问题展开了讨论。

Toward the end of the 1970s, the United States began to implement its human rights （HR） diplomacy, trying to export its ideology by exercising hegemony as part of the cold war. Under its influence, some other western countries also introduced HR into their bilateral relations. The drastic changes in Eastern Europe and the disintegration of the Soviet Union gave the United States the chance of spearheading its HR attack against China.

An exhibition on human rights in China was held in the Cultural Palace of Ethnic Groups, Beijing, November 17-26,2006, jointly by the Information Office of the State Council, China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) and China Human Rights Development Fund.
