2001年菲律宾的政治经济发展呈现一种戏剧性的发展态势:弹劾案一波三折,大选后政敌握手,绑架之风愈打愈烈,经济增长引人瞩目.国内外对菲律宾的研究则呈现一种分析视角和结论的独特性:透过纷繁的政治现象,揭示其特色民主和体制设计缺陷;通过分析翔实资料,提出1997-1999年菲律宾的经济衰退本可以避免;运用决策分析法,剖析其对华政策的缺陷.     

The Chinese and the Philippine Political Process

Philippine Chinese contributed liberally to politics but without asking anything openly for themselves. They habitually concealed their wealth, having been taught what comes of envy on the part of a government which they cannot control¹     

Economic development and structural setting: Hong Kong electronics industry

A structural analysis of the economic development in developing economies is proposed. A development model is constructed and examined against the experience of the Hong Kong electronics industry. The proposed model indicated that the local structural settings of developing economies did not foster a high profit incentive and investment environment for rapid economic development. However, the same settings when integrated into an international structural context can generate a structural profit that is based on the difference in the cost of production. This structural profit can act as an engine of growth for the whole economy. The application of the model has shown that the calculation of the structural profit is not simply based on certain factors of production but on the overall cost of production. In addition, the application also indicated that three main aspects of the structural settings have played the determining role in shaping the development of the industry, namely, the export network, risk and uncertainty in the local structural settings and peripheral industries.     

呼德呼德——菲律宾伊富高人的口头非物质文化遗产

本文探讨的是菲律宾伊富高民族的口头叙事文化"呼德呼德".《呼德呼德》在东南亚地区第一个入选联合国《人类口头与非物质文化遗产代表作名录》,作为人类文化多样性的代表,它有着重要的学术价值和文化意义.本文首先介绍了"呼德呼德"和伊富高人,梳理了国际学术界相关研究的学术史;接着探讨了"呼德呼德"的概念及其在生产生活中的社会功能、具体的表演形式等;最后论述了"呼德呼德"面对现代文明冲击所处的困境,以及国际组织和菲律宾政府展开的文化保护行动.     

Corporations,subjects, and citizens: the peculiar modernity of early Hispanic liberalism

Abstract

The varying degrees of political novelty and continuity brought about by the arrival of Hispanic constitutionalism are assessed in this article. It sheds light on the adaptations and the role played by pre-existing discourses and rituals in the articulation of the self-proclaimed “liberal” institutions, both in the Iberian Peninsula and in the new independent Latin American territories. The tensions between individualistic and collectivistic representations of political power are at the centre of the analysis. The text thus seeks to make an original contribution to current debates in historiography regarding the emergence of a liberal subjectivity in the early nineteenth century and its limits.

本文从国家认同、民族认同、政治参与、经济参与、社会文化参与等各方面考察菲律宾华人与当地民族的关系。菲律宾华人与当地民族关系的本质特征 ,就是华人正在逐渐地被同化 ,或叫菲律宾化。     

Malaysia: Unsung Hero of the Philippine Peace Process

Abstract

The October 2012 Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro between the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front was a milestone in the peace negotiations. Attributing this success solely to Philippine President Benigno Aquino III's popularity fails to account for Malaysia's peace facilitation. Keeping the talks on track appeared counterintuitive as Filipino public opinion often cast Malaysia as a dishonest broker. Contrary to popular belief, Kuala Lumpur's foreign policy eschewed support for Moro secession. More importantly, the effectiveness of the Malaysian-led International Monitoring Team as a peacekeeping force fostered peace in communities. This article illustrates how mediation and local-level peace can trump national-level rhetoric.

菲律宾是一个海岛国家,在不同的历史时期形成了不同形式的海上信仰形式,其中之一就是安蒂波罗女神信仰.本文主要分为三个部分.第一部分介绍了安蒂波罗女神信仰的形成过程,第二部分运用功能主义学派的观点分析了这一民间信仰形式在菲律宾社会中三个方面的功能.第三部分对比安蒂波罗女神信仰和福建妈祖信仰在社会功能、形成过程、表现形式等方面的异同.在对比研究的基础上,笔者强调功能的相似性决定了文化形式的相似性.
