The spate of deadly mass shootings in the United States have caused concern both domestically and in the international community. According to a report by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, a member of the United Nations Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations, the rampant gun violence reflects the profound crisis in the U.S. political and social systems and highlights the U.S. hypocrisy on human rights.  相似文献

正The new U.S.ambassador has deep connections butlittle experience in managing Sino-U.S.relations On February 21,the day of former U.S.Senator Max Baucus’swearing in as the country’s new ambassador to China,U.S.President Barack Obama caused a ruckus by meeting with the Dalai Lama,a move that Beijing said caused damage to bilateral relations.Although most Chinese analysts on U.S.studies have a positive view of the senior U.S.politician,the complicated Sino-U.S.relationship may mean that the latest incarnation of his political life will not be an easy one.  相似文献

BEIJING REVIEW: What is the purpose of the exhibition? Do Chinese churches have frequent exchanges with U.S. churches? CAO SHENGJIE: Chinese churches do have a lot of exchanges with U.S. churches. Before 1949, there were more than 70 Christian sects in China. But at that time, China was only a place for missionary activities for foreign countries. After the People's Republic of China was founded, churches in the country launched a "three-self movement," namely, self-governance, self-support and self-propagation.  相似文献

THE year 9014 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the U.S. Its significance, from a global perspective, goes without say-ing. The past 35 years have witnessed enormous changes, both in China-U.S. ties and globally. I was appointed the first resident People's Daily correspon- dent in the U.S. in 1979. Commenting on internationalissues is not my field of expertise. I would, however, like to discuss my feelings in this regard, based on my experiences in the U.S.  相似文献

正EARLIER this year sections of the Western media tried to spin a story that the world economy was experiencing"severe slowdown in China"and"strong recovery in the U.S."In other words,China’s economy was allegedly in trouble and the U.S.was doing well. Now that the factual data is in for the fi rst half of the year it shows the opposite was true.China’s economic growth was 7.5 percent to the second quarter of 2014;that of the U.S.was 2.4 percent.China’s economy thus grew more than three times as fast as the U.S.’s.Still more signifi cantly for the U.S.,its own statistical agencies and the IMF have offi cially revised their projections for long-term U.S.growth.Both now estimate it at  相似文献

The Blame Game
正Trump administration politicizes pandemic for electoral gain While in the midst of a pandemic and with a crying need for the U.S. and China to unite and work together,it is unfortunate that China-U.S. relations have deteriorated to a level not seen since the Cold War before Richard Nixon’s historic visit to China in 1972. This deterioration was completely avoidable. One would have hoped that the rhetoric would dissipate as cooler and more rational voices prevailed to restore a greater sense of cooperation in the world’s most important bilateral relationship.  相似文献

The U.S. interest in Hong Kong is not for residents' welfare but to prop up its own waning influence The new $900-billion relief package signed by U.S. President Donald Trump on December 27, 2020, designed to supplement the U.S. economy over the impact of the novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19), is hardly straightforward in its purpose. It is being utilized as a vehicle for other things, which in fact have little to do with the virus or the U.S economy.  相似文献
