实现马克思主义时代化,既要坚持稳定性、又要坚持动态性,既要坚持民族性、又要坚持世界性,既要坚持真理性、又要坚持价值性,既要坚持主导性、又要坚持多样性,从而使马克思主义时代化在与时俱进中、在宏阔视野中、在正确尺度中、在双向结合中不断推进。     

The Age Gap in the 2008 Presidential Election

The 2008 presidential election suggests a significant realignment among voters entering the electorate, with younger voters deviating considerably from older voters in their partisan preferences. Barack Obama won the vote of those under 30 years old by a 66% to 32% margin and first time voters favored him by an overwhelming margin of 69–30%. The fact that the age gap between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination contest was also among the largest age gaps in American electoral history suggests that part of the age gap was undoubtedly due to the appeal of Obama with younger Americans. Part of the age gap, however, was also due to the unpopularity of the George W. Bush administration. The strong youth vote for Obama in 2008 was thus both pro-Obama and anti-Bush in nature. The huge age gap in 2008 suggests a split of the electorate along generational lines and the long-term consequences of the age gap appear to overwhelmingly favor the Democratic Party. George W. Bush’s unpopular and divisive presidency helped to make the youngest generation of American voters increasingly Democratic in their vote preference. This suggests that if younger Americans follow other generations in keeping the same partisan voting patterns throughout their life, the Democrats are potentially poised to make considerable gains in future elections.

合理界定当代中国发展的本质，必须坚持发展目标与发展手段的统一、科学因素与价值因素的统一、历史与逻辑的统一和一般与特殊的统一这四个基本原则。从这些原则出发，我们可概括出发展的一般本质，即发展是以每个人全面发展为最终目标的各现实目标的实现及其扬弃代价的过程；从这些原则出发，我们也可概括出当代中国发展的特殊本质，即当代中国的发展是以中国社会结构转型为前提的社会生产力持续发展和人的能力平等逐步协调的过程。     

当代劳动新特点

本文深刻地阐述了当代劳动具有的5个新特点,即由体力劳动为主转变为脑力劳动为主,由重复性劳动为主转变为创新劳动为主,劳动及各要素在生产经营中的地位有明显差别,管理和科技劳动的地位日益重要,由依附性劳动转变为自主劳动。     

大转型时代的哲学变革

哲学在回应时代问题中得以生长,时代也在哲学思想的引领下发生变革,二者之间的互动构成人类文明演进的一种动力机制。中国正处于大转型的时代,中华文明的复兴意味着一种整体性、系统性的变革与超越;转型时代的失衡显示出"道"的混乱,创造新的文明则需要从"道"的层面进行提问。在市场冲击下,哲学陷入"贫困"状态,这表现为批判精神的缺失,也折射出时代精神的困顿。转型时代的中国呼唤"哲学的春天",这意味着古老文明走向复兴进程中的思想再造,也是一个民族在自我觉醒中走向新生的精神表征。     

The Northern Ireland Peace Process in an Age of Austerity

The steady drip of dissident Republican attacks forms the backdrop to this special issue of Political Quarterly. Moreover, this comes at a time of economic austerity, when Northern Ireland faces unprecedented cuts to its public sector‐dominated economy. The economic crisis in the South adds an additional layer of uncertainty to the picture. In the past, economic deprivation has been associated with conflict in Northern Ireland and elsewhere. Might the peace dividend and constitutional settlement which have underpinned the Northern Ireland ‘miracle’ since 1994 be under threat? Or is there now sufficient momentum in both of Northern Ireland's main ethnic communities that such an outcome can be safely averted? This paper summarises the thinking of our symposium and special issue on this topic, updating our picture of the Northern Ireland peace process.

The Apollo 8 Genesis Reading and Religion in the Space Age

Between January 1969 and the summer of 1975, NASA received over eight million letters and petition signatures supporting the right of American astronauts to free religious expression in space. Prompted by Madalyn Murray O'Hair's complaints about the reading of Genesis during the flight of Apollo 8, the petition campaign points to the complex ambivalent relationship between religious Americans and their nation's space program. The Genesis reading had provided reassurance that the program, with its secular motivations, its instrumental culture, and its designs upon God's very heavens, was not hostile to faith. But what if NASA now yielded to O'Hair? The petitions flowed in the eschatological anxiety that the sacred space of the skies might be cleared of Christian speech.
