Mind the Gap: Using UK Parliamentary Sources to Enhance Teaching

Online primary parliamentary sources can be of great value in teaching Parliament-related courses and a valuable means of promoting the development of students' research and analytical skills; particularly taking into account the research habits of the modern student population. Through a series of focus groups with politics students and a national survey of politics lecturers, the perceptions and current use of the UK Parliament website in teaching are analysed. It was found that a considerable number of lecturers are making use of the website for teaching purposes, though this is usually at a very basic and often superficial level. Barriers to the use of parliamentary resources include a lack of awareness of the types and variety of parliamentary material, difficulties in finding appropriate material on the Parliament website and a lack of understanding on the part of lecturers as to how to use this material effectively in lectures and seminars.

Mind The Gap

The governance phenomenon brings law back to its very ‘origin’, namely, law-making (‘Recht-Fertigung’), and reveals that law is not anchored to a specific ‘polis’ or to Hobbesian statehood, but is able to pursue different forms of ‘the common’ as long as its paradox function is fulfilled. Law recognises and develops normative standards for the creation of social structures while also leading a continuous battle against any restrictions to democracy, common wealth and justice connected to these structures. Law here acts ‘politically’ and in affinity to social movements that struggle against any form of social ‘immunisation’. This article analyses the conditions of this affinity and its consequences for the concept of ‘justice’.

关于进一步扩大开放的两个理论问题的探讨

当代国际分工具有两重性，由此决定的经济全球化进程也具有两面性，我们应该辨证地看待经济全球化的趋势，正视经济全球化两方面的作用，找准自己在世界分工中的位置，一方面，我们在顺应经济全球化的浪潮，进一步加大经济开放的力度，发挥自己的比较优势，积极主动地融入国际分工体系；另一方面，我们也应清醒地看到，发达国家和发展中国家从全球化中获得的经济利益是不平等的，不合理的国际经济秩序往往使一些发展中国家成为经济全球化的受害。我国作为发展中的大国，要做到在参与经济全球化时趋利避害，必须采取正确的开放战略，正确处理保护和开放的关系。     

法律心智:返回法律的生活世界——一种现象学的视角

科学的思维方法为研究法律提供了有效的路径,但是作为科学研究对象的法律却逐渐远离了对于人之生活的意义关照。虽然现象学语境下所构建的法律心智表现为一种理想模型,但最后实现的效果实质在于通过重塑立法者和裁判者的个人理解而将遮蔽的生活世界揭示出来,并推向"公共性",这将是现象学独有的洞察。现象学视角下的法律心智研究将引领我们返回法律的生活世界,这不仅将促使我们重新审视理性的担当和责任,而且将释放法律的"本真性",更重要的则是重塑公民的个人理解。
