U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council in June should not have come as a surprise because it arrived on the heels of a series of pullouts by the Trump presidency, including withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Paris climate accord, UNESCO, the UN Global Compact on Migration, as well as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iran nuclear issue.
