Daniel Arbenz was bom and educated in Switzerland. In 1978, he entered the hotel indastry as a chef and worked his way up through all segments of the business. After graduating from the famous Swiss Hotel Management School in Luceme and obtaining management exposure in the finest hotels in Switzerland, he moved to Hong Kong in 1989, starting his career in Asia. Arbenz moved to Singapore, then to Bali, for Resort Hotels and has been with the Intercontinental Hotels Group for almost 10 years in general manager assignments in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. In 2001, he arrived in Beijing to work at the Holiday Inn Lido. He was appointed General Manager of Crowne Plaza Beijing in 2002 and handled the two significant renovation projects for the hotel in 2003 and 2005. Expressing his enthusiasm about his career, Arbenz said, "I believe that the hotel industry is the most beautiful job and career opportunity that can keep people young and active. I treasure the experiences of different cultures, different countries and people from all over the world."

Huang Hua and Henry Kissinger：Witnesses to History Meet Again

In 1971, as u.s. President richard Nixon’s special envoy,then-National security Adviser Henry Kissinger made a secret trip to China. What greeted him were slogans painted on walls along the road from beijing’s Nanyuan Airport to the Diaoyutai state Guesthouse, and their gist was： ＂Down with the American imperialists and all reactionaries.＂ It was unimagi- nable then that Kissinger, at the age of 85, would visit beijing 37 years later, this time with his family as spectators at the beijing Olympic Games.
