A variant is suggested to modernize the method of glycogen quantification according to Kemp-Kitzes van Heijningen with respect to the modern laboratory-and-methodological requirements. A number of authors have indicated that haemorrhage of the posterior cricoarytenoid (PCA) muscles can be used as a diagnostic criterion to establish the cause of death. Other authors even consider it to be 'forensic evidence' when differentiating between natural and violent death. They agree on agonal asphyxia or dyspnoea as a developmental mechanism, possibly in combination with a 'convulsive' dilatation of the glottic cleft. In view of this difference of opinion, we conducted a study of our own. Retrospective evaluation of 2060 post-mortem examinations performed in 1996 at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the University of Munich disclosed 28 cases demonstrating visible haemorrhage of the PCA muscles. The study revealed no correlation between these findings and certain causes of death, nor any indication of certain mechanisms of development.  相似文献

Radiocarbon dating, with special reference to the modern bomb-curve, can provide useful information to elucidate the date of death of skeletonized human remains. Interpretation can be enhanced with analysis of different types of tissues within a single skeleton because of the known variability of formation times and remodeling rates. Analysis of radiocarbon content of teeth, especially the enamel in tooth crowns, provides information about the date of formation in the childhood years and in consideration of the known timing of tooth formation can be used to estimate the birth date after 1950 ad. Radiocarbon analysis of modern cortical and trabecular bone samples from the same skeleton may allow proper placement on the pre-1963 or post-1963 sides of the bomb-curve as most trabecular bone generally undergoes more rapid remodeling than does most cortical bone. Pre-1963 bone formation would produce higher radiocarbon values for most trabecular bone than for most cortical bone. This relationship is reversed for formation after 1963. Radiocarbon analysis was conducted in this study on dental, cortical, and trabecular bone samples from two adult individuals of known birth (1925 and 1926) and death dates (1995 and 1959). As expected, the dental results correspond to prebomb-curve values reflecting conditions during the childhoods of the individuals. The radiocarbon content of most bone samples reflected the higher modern bomb-curve values. Within the bone sample analyses, the values of the trabecular bone were higher than those of cortical bone and supported the known placement on the pre-1963 side of the bomb-curve.  相似文献

Benzodiazepines were analyzed in different tissue samples, including hone, by ELISA. The sensitivity of detection for different benzodiazepines was consistent with the manufacturer's reports of the cross reactivities of the antibodies used, with the greatest sensitivity for midazolam and the least for diazepam; in addition the pharmacokinetics was consistent with the known duration of action of the different benzodiazepines, with midazolam cleared rapidly, and diazepam slowly. Following intramuscular injection of 300 microg of midazolam at 16 h intervals for ten days, the drug was detectable in bone tissue samples obtained from skeletonized remains buried in soil at room temperature for three weeks.  相似文献

The non-protein nitrogen (NPN) values in brain, lung, liver, and kidney in 79 autopsy cases were determined according to the Micro-Kjeldahl Nessler method. Multiple regression analysis of the data was performed with every possible combination of the time of death and the NPN values in the tissues.The brain NPN showed the best correlation with the postmortem time (r = 0.673), whereas the other correlations were less satisfactory (lung r = 0.422, liver r = 0.397, and kidney r = 0.379, respectively). However, multiple combinations of each tissue NPN value proved to give better correlation coefficients and smaller errors of the estimated time of death.The practical significance of the tissue NPN as a postmortem biochemical indicator of the time of death and the multiple regression analysis of such indicators were extensively discussed in this report.  相似文献

Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein A (SP-A) is an exclusively lung specific protein, and is considered to leak into the blood stream in alveolar septal damage. In this study we examined the serum SP-A level in forensic autopsy materials using an enzyme immunoassay with monoclonal antibodies to assess the postmortem level in relation to the cause and mode of death. Although a gradual postmortem degradation should be taken into consideration, topological relationship of serum level seemed to be fairly stable (arterial> or =venous blood in most cases), indicating no evident influence of postmortem diffusion. Significant elevation of serum SP-A (76.7-250 ng/ml in left heart blood) was observed in hyaline membrane diseases from various causes independent of the postmortem intervals (<30 h). However, mean SP-A levels in postmortem heart blood were usually low in asphyxia including hanging, strangulation and choking (left, 25.5 ng/ml; right, 22.3 ng/ml), polytrauma (left, 13.1 ng/ml; right, 9.0 ng/ml) and stab wound to the neck (left, 34.1 ng/ml; right, 29.4 ng/ml). Prominent elevation was noted in a case of fatal strangulation with complication of idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, and also in some deaths due to drowning, burns in fires, blunt and gunshot chest injuries. These findings indicated that postmortem elevation of serum SP-A levels was associated with alveolar septal damage due to inflammation, mechanical and physical stresses, which caused leakage of SP-A into the bloodstream.  相似文献

The concentrations of ethanol, acetaldehyde, and the oxidizing enzymes alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (AIDH) were measured in neuronal cytoplasm, limbic cortical capillaries, and cardiovascular center of the medulla oblongata. The measurements were carried out by histochemical methods, gas-liquid chromatography, etc. The results were processed with consideration for the degree and stage of ethanol intoxication in case of death from ethanol poisoning and asphyxia in hanging. Increase of ethanol concentration in the blood was associated with a decrease and then increase in the brain concentrations of ADH and with an increase of AIDH concentration. Enzymatic changes predominated in capillary walls; the minimum shifts were observed in the neuronal cytoplasm of the cerebral limbic cortex, which confirms the neurohumoral nature of detoxication regulation. Lethal ethanol poisoning could occur during any stage of ethanol intoxication. The detected changes in ethanol, acetaldehyde, and metabolizing oxidoreductases in brain tissue can be used for forensic medical diagnosis of ethanol poisoning.  相似文献

目的探讨体感诱发电位(SEP)对腰椎间盘突出症(LDH)的诊断价值。方法对60例LDH患者和30例正常人行皮节体感诱发电位(DSEP)和胫后神经体感诱发电位(PTNSEP)检查。结果DSEP的异常率为93.3%,显著高于PTNSEP检测的异常率(43.3%)(P<0.001)。L3-4椎间盘以L4DSEP异常为主,L4-5椎间盘突出以L5DSEP异常为主,L5S1椎间盘突出以S1DSEP异常为主。结论DSEP与腰骶神经根损伤有良好的相关性,弥补了影像学检查的不足,既可判定单根神经根的功能状态,又可辅助定位诊断,是一种敏感的辅助诊断LDH的电生理方法。  相似文献

A direct gas chromatography method was designed for the quantitative determination of cyanides (prussic acid) in cadaveric blood. Its sensitivity is 0.05 mg/ml. The routine volatile products, including substances, which emerge due to putrefaction of organic matters, do not affect the accuracy and reproducibility of the method; the exception is H-propanol that was used as the internal standard. The method was used in legal chemical expertise related with acute cyanide poisoning (suicide) as well as with poisoning of products of combustion of nonmetals (foam-rubber). The absolute error does not exceed 10% with a mean quadratic deviation of 0.0029-0.0033 mg.  相似文献

In this experimental study, we investigated the varieties of excitability of gastrocnemius muscle via sciatic nerve as per different death models (asphyxia, abundant-bleeding and gradual-bleeding) on rats and the significance for the estimation of postmortem interval was evaluated. For this purpose, the rats were applied different stimulus intensities (5, 20, 40 mA) with 0.1 ms duration, before, during and every 5 min after death, using rectangular impulses, and the mean amplitude, onset latency and area values for each compound muscle action potential (CMAP) were elicited. It was detected that amplitude and area increased and onset latencies prolonged in the first postmortem 15 min. From the 15 min, CMAP area and amplitude showed an ever-increasing decrease and the prolongation of onset latencies became apparent. The decrease rate of area and amplitude was found to be statistically significantly different in asphyxia and abundant-bleeding models compared with in gradual-bleeding model, at 30 min measurements. However, there was not any significant difference in onset latency increase rates of three groups. Separately, any significant correlation between the agony and excitability periods among the groups could not be detected. The fact that the increase rate of onset latency did not show a significant difference as per death models indicated that onset latency ratios would be more appropriate criteria in determination of postmortem interval, regardless the reason of death.  相似文献

14 fresh cadavers of adult persons were placed with the head or body tilted in atypical positions 3 to 65 hours after death. The persons concerned were neither asphyxiated nor had they suffered cranial trauma. Hypostasis in the head and neck occurred more rapidly and intensively the deeper the cranial parts of the body were placed. In the simulated cadaver positions, artificial ecchymoses were observed in only a few places, mainly in the eyelids, the conjunctiva, the galea and the temporal muscles except when the head was vertically downwards. Just as with the postmortem haematomas, the hypostatic settling to the plane of the heart was decisive.  相似文献

The disease concept of alcoholism was first introduced into the medical literature by Magnus Huss in 1984. Since that time many authors have attempted to define therapy-related sub-groups of chronic alcoholics but have been unsuccessful until now because alcoholism represents a complex development and becomes apparent in various clinical pictures. As the method of cross-sectional investigations does not seem to be able to produce reliable results, we performed a prospective long-term study of 444 alcoholics. The methodological claims in literature were taken into consideration like selection criteria, programmes and goals of therapy, follow-up rate and time, etc. Careful observation of the pertinent parts of the pathogenetic pathway leading to chronic alcoholism enabled the authors to establish 4 sub-groups of alcoholics relevant for treatment.  相似文献

The importance of ensuring the results of any digital forensic (DF) examination are effectively communicated cannot be understated. In most cases, this communication will be done via written report, yet despite this there is arguably limited best practice guidance available which is specific for this field in regards to report construction. Poor reporting practices in DF are likely to undermine the reliability of evidence provided across this field, where there is a need for formalised guidance regarding the requirements for effective DF report construction; this should not be a task left solely to each individual practitioner to determine without instruction. For this, the field of DF should look to the wider forensic community and the existing work in this area for support. In line with many other ‘traditional’ forensic science types, a DF practitioner can be commissioned to report in one of three ways - ‘technical’, ‘investigative’ or ‘evaluative’, where each reporting type maintains a specific purpose and interpretative-context, determined by the examination workflow undertaken by a practitioner following client instruction. This work draws upon guidance set out in fundamental forensic science reporting literature in order to describe each reporting type in turn, outlining their scope, content and construction requirements in an attempt to provide support for the DF field.  相似文献

A comparative examination has been made to evaluate decisions as to causes and modes of death among 436 consecutive medicolegal deaths before and after coming to autopsy. All available information was used, including police reports, in evaluating mode and cause of death prior to the autopsy. Among the women, the mode of death evaluation differed in 23.4% of the cases and the cause of death evaluation differed in 77.5% of the cases. Among the men, the mode of death evaluation differed in 23.4% of the cases and the cause of death evaluation differed in 46.9% of the cases. These figures were achieved, however, on the basis of the fact that in most cases the mode of death and cause of death were reported as unknown. After autopsy, the cause of death remained unknown in 3.3% of the females over the age of 2 years and in 4.2% of the males over the age of 2 years. No characteristics relationship was established between the differences found and the age groups. The investigation shows the importance of the medicolegal autopsy for correctly recording cases where the death is obscure.  相似文献
