Human Y-specific STR haplotypes in population of Serbia and Montenegro

Nine Y chromosome short tandem repeat (STR) loci (DYS19, DYS385, DYS389I, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392 and DYS393) were analyzed in group of 237 unrelated healthy males from population of Serbia and Montenegro in order to assess the frequencies of Y haplotypes. We observed 174 different haplotypes of which 146 (61.6%) were seen only once. Y-STR allelic frequencies in Serbia and Montenegro, in general, correspond to other European populations, except for the DYS19, DYS385 and DYS389II loci.     

Yugoslav population data on nine STR loci

Allele frequencies of nine short tandem repeats (TH01, TPOX, CSF1P0, vWA, FES/FPS, F13A01, D13S317, D7S820 and D16S539) were obtained in a sample of 111-125 unrelated Yugoslavs.     

13 STR loci frequency data from a Scottish population

A total of 13 STR loci were typed from over 200 Caucasians from the Strathclyde region in the west of Scotland.     

Population data on the 11 STR loci in the Upper Silesia (Poland)

Smuggling of methamphetamine is affected by enforced regulation and international situation, resulting in changes of precursors and synthetic methods used. Enantiomer ratio of methamphetamine can provide information concerning its precursor and synthetic method. This information is useful for the prevention of smuggling methamphetamine and its precursor, and resultant reduction of methamphetamine abuse. In the present study, we investigated on the enantiomer ratios of 433 crystalline methamphetamine samples seized in Korea from 1994 to 2005. Excluding 17 samples of low purity, 416 samples were used for enantiomer profiling. The methamphetamine samples were derivatized with (S)-(+)-alpha-methoxy-alpha-(trifluoromethyl)phenylacetyl chloride ((S)-(+)-MTPACl), and the derivatives were analyzed by GCMS in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode. The enantiomer ratios of the samples were calculated from the standard calibration curves of each enantiomer, both of which showed good linearity in the range of 0-1.2 microg. Most of the seizures were pure S(+)-enantiomer, but 21% (95 of 416 samples) contained R(-)-enantiomer above 1%. They began to appear from 1997, and increased continuously up to 50% in the year 2005 (55 of 111 samples). From this study, we could find out that alternative precursors have been used recently for the illicit manufacture of methamphetamine seized in Korea.     

STR population data for 10 STR loci including the GenePrint PowerPlex 1.2 kit from El-Minia (Central Egypt)

Allele frequencies for 10 STRs including the GenePrint PowerPlex 1.2 loci and also D3S1358, HumvWA and HumFGA were obtained from a sample of unrelated individuals from El-Minia City.     

16 X-chromosome STR loci frequency data from a German population

Allele frequencies for 16 X-linked STRs, suitable for forensic purposes, were obtained from a sample of unrelated German individuals (male and female). The presented data show also repeat sequence structures and statistic parameters describing there information content.     

Population genetics of nine STR loci from Baoan population in NW China

Allele frequencies for the nine short tandem repeat (STR) loci (D3S1358, FGA, TH01, D7S820, VWA, CSF1PO, D5S818, D13S317, TPOX) were determined in a sample of 120 unrelated individuals of the Baoan ethnic group living in northwest China. The values of observed heterozygosity (H), discrimination power (DP), a priori chance of exclusion (CE) and polymorphism information content (PIC) were calculated. All loci were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P=0.05). The obtained frequency distributions were compared with other previously reported population data.
