Abstract: This study compared total body score (TBS) in buried remains (35 cm depth) with and without insect access prior to burial. Sixty rabbit carcasses were exhumed at 50 accumulated degree day (ADD) intervals. Weight loss, TBS, intra‐abdominal decomposition, carcass/soil interface temperature, and below‐carcass soil pH were recorded and analyzed. Results showed significant differences (p << 0.001) in decomposition rates between carcasses with and without insect access prior to burial. An approximately 30% enhanced decomposition rate with insects was observed. TBS was the most valid tool in postmortem interval (PMI) estimation. All other variables showed only weak relationships to decomposition stages, adding little value to PMI estimation. Although progress in estimating the PMI for surface remains has been made, no previous studies have accomplished this for buried remains. This study builds a framework to which further comparable studies can contribute, to produce predictive models for PMI estimation in buried human remains.  相似文献

Decomposition of buried bodies and methods that may aid in their location   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
This is the second report on an ongoing study conducted to collect data on the decompositional rates of human cadavers and the first on buried cadavers. Six unembalmed human cadavers were buried separately in unlined trenches of various depths and allowed to naturally decompose for a time period ranging from a month to a year. During the period of burial, data were collected daily on the air, soil, and cadaver temperature at each burial site. At the end of each specified burial period the cadavers were exhumed and examined for the degree of decomposition which had taken place as well as changes in the soil pH, surface vegetation, and carrion insect activity. Analysis of the data shows that the decomposition rate of buried cadavers is highly dependent on the depth of burial and environmental temperatures. The depth at which the cadaver was buried also directly affected the degree of soil and vegetational changes as well as access by carrion insects. Application of this information can contribute to a more accurate estimation of time since death of a buried corpse and may aid in the location of such corpses.  相似文献

The processes associated with cadaver decomposition in outdoor settings, particularly those that occur during the extended postmortem interval (>30 days) are poorly understood. Thus, few methods are currently available to accurately estimate the extended postmortem interval (PMI). Of these methods, a soils-based approach has the potential to address the postmortem interval between which entomology and anthropology are the most valuable. Although the validity of soil-based methods has previously been established, little work has been conducted to explain the processes that have been designated for forensic application. As a consequence, we investigated the dynamics of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus-based compounds in soil beneath pig (Sus scrofa) cadavers (gravesoil) that were placed on the soil surface over a period of 100 days. Decomposition was assessed through the physical characteristics of the cadaver, soil pH, soil moisture content, and the concentration of total carbon, total nitrogen, soil-extractable phosphorus, and lipid-phosphorus in soil. Cadaver decomposition did not result in a significant difference in soil carbon and moisture content. However, significant (P < 0.05) increases were observed in the concentration of soil pH, total nitrogen, soil-extractable phosphorus, and lipid-phosphorus. Based on the current results, a significant increase in the concentration of gravesoil nutrients represented a maximum PMI of 43 days (lipid-P), 72 days (total nitrogen), or 100 days (soil-extractable phosphorus). This work provides further evidence that a soil-based method has the potential to act as a tool for the estimation of extended PMI.  相似文献

在法医精神病学鉴定实践中,精神伤残的评定越来越多。现行《道路交通事故受伤人员伤残评定》标准中关于精神伤残评定的相关条款过于笼统,可操作性差,常因认识不一致而产生歧义。本文结合典型案例主要从三个方面对精神伤残司法鉴定中常见问题进行探讨:(1)在评定智力缺损程度时,应结合伤前智商进行评定;(2)精神伤残评定的时间应在医疗终结后一年;(3)精神伤残评定中应引入量表进行客观评价。  相似文献

推断年龄目前主要依据人体骨骼、软组织、细胞和生物大分子,以及组织中各类物质的物理和化学特性等随年龄增长的时序性变化。由于生物体各组织器官生长发育的生理性变化及其影响因素极为复杂,不同推断年龄的方法均有其应用价值,但也都存在一定的局限性,在法医学实际检案中如果能综合运用,可提高年龄推断的准确性。本文回顾国内外年龄推断现状,并对各种推断方法进行讨论。  相似文献

目的探讨土壤细菌群体多样性的末端限制性片段长度多态性(terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism,T-RFLP)分析在法庭科学应用的相关问题。方法依据不同土壤中的细菌群体存在多样性和差异,联合利用细菌16SrDNA序列、末端限制性片段长度多态性(terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism,T-RFLP)方法对5个来源不同的土壤样品和4个同一来源土壤样品的细菌群体多样性进行比较分析,计算土壤样品间的相似系数。结果不同来源的5个土壤样品间相似系数,最大者为0.44,最小为0.3;同一来源的4个土壤样品相似系数,最大为0.87,最小为0.76。结论不同来源土壤的细菌群体多样性存在差异。  相似文献

18周岁年龄节点在司法审判、移民、竞技体育中均有重大意义,18岁年龄推断是法医实践工作的难点之一,也是法医基础研究应面对的问题。目前常用的指标包括锁骨胸骨端、髂嵴、第三磨牙、四肢骨近关节端。18岁年龄推断的常用影像方法多样,包括平片、CT、超声、MRI,薄层CT是目前主要研究手段,但逐渐向无辐射的MRI发展。统计方法多采用一般描述性分析,但其统计效能低,因此逐渐有作者提出应用ROC、数据挖掘技术等高功效的统计方法推断年龄。既往研究显示上述指标的完全发育成熟在18岁年龄推断中有一定意义,可用于18岁年龄推断,多指标的联合应用及高功效的统计方法将会提高18岁年龄推断的准确性。  相似文献

为了进一步提高耻骨推断年龄方程推广使用价值,在原方程454副样本基础上又增加146副,共600副(男、女各300副)。观测项目(形态特征)由男女各9个减为各8个。有效赋分标准,男性增加5个;女性增加4个。每项中0改为1。使用数量化理论1和逐步回归数学模型,取得8个方程、6个推断年龄表。应用时可根据不同性别、不同年龄组,选用不同推断年龄表,使用不同标准差。比原方程,提高了实际应用价值。  相似文献

牙齿是人体最坚硬的器官之一,其抗腐蚀能力强,多项形态特征具有增龄性变化,因此利用牙齿推断年龄在法医学中得到广泛应用。由于牙齿的生理性变化的复杂性及环境因素的影响,不同牙齿推断年龄的方法各具其应用价值,同时也存在一定的局限性,法医工作者需要依据具体情况选择适合的方法并加以综合运用,以提高年龄推断的准确性。本文对国内外利用牙齿推断年龄的研究现状进行综述,并对各种推断方法进行比较评价,希望能为相关研究和实践提供参考。  相似文献

Intact long limb bones have been used in the derivation of regression equations for stature assessment in different population groups. Since intact long bones are not always present for analyses in forensic cases, it has become necessary to derive regression equations for the estimation of stature from the fragments of these bones which are obtained in forensic and archaeological cases. Regression equations have been derived for stature estimation from fragments of the tibia. Since these equations are population specific, it was the aim of this study to derive similar equations for estimation of stature and maximum tibia length from measurements of different fragments of tibia of South Africans of European descent. Analyses were based on a sample of 50 male and 50 female complete skeletons of adult South Africans of European descent. Total skeletal height for the individual skeletons was measured using the Fully's (anatomical) method. Six variables were measured on the tibia which included the medial tibial condyle lengths and breadths, lateral tibial condyle lengths and breadths, proximal breadth and distal breadth. Univariate and multivariate regression equations were formulated for estimation of total skeletal height (and subsequent estimation of living stature) and maximum tibial length from measurements of the tibia. The standard errors of estimate for the equations were higher than those obtained for intact long bones which when present in forensic cases should be used for stature estimation. In the absence of intact long bones, the equations derived from the present study can provide a reliable estimate of skeletal height and living stature.  相似文献

The Lamendin method is widely reported as one of the most reliable means of age estimation of skeletal remains, but very little is known concerning the influence of burial in soil. This study aimed at verifying the reliability of the Lamendin method on corpses buried for 16 years in a cemetery. The Lamendin and the Prince and Ubelaker methods were applied. In all age groups except the 40- to 49-year–olds, the error was higher in the buried sample. The age-at-death error ranged between 10.7 and 36.8 years for the Lamendin method (vs. the reported 7.3–18.9 years) and 9.5 and 35.7 for the Prince and Ubelaker one (vs. the original 5.2–32.6 years); in all age groups, the error is closer to that found on archeological populations. These results suggest caution in applying the Lamendin method to forensic cases of human remains buried even for a brief period under soil.  相似文献

牙龄是年龄推断的重要方法之一,国外学者常将其与骨龄联合应用以提高年龄推断的准确性,但国内尚未普遍开展。大量研究表明,应用放射影像学这一无创的检查手段,可以准确观察牙齿的增龄性变化,如牙冠与牙根的发育程度、牙髓腔的变化等。目前应用放射影像学进行牙龄推断的主要方法有Gleiser和Hunt法、Demirjian法及牙髓腔测量法等。其中Demirjian法的准确性最高,但在推断法定敏感年龄时尚存在局限性。随着放射影像学的发展,尤其是CT的出现,依赖其高分辨率以及相匹配的测量软件,可提高牙龄推断的准确性与可靠性,有望成为今后推断活体年龄的重要手段。  相似文献

A simple presumptive test for the comparison of soil samples, namely the high performance liquid chromatographic comparison of the acetonitrile extract of soil, appears promising. Soils taken from different areas had different chromatograms. Soil taken from the same area had similar chromatograms. 目的 对元素分析产生的大量数据进行统计,从而达到准确对样品进行区分和归类的目的.方法 利用X射线荧光光谱法对从北京郊区10个区县、辽宁沈阳、安徽泗县、四川泸州、山东威海和广西南宁提取的225个泥土样品进行元素定量分析.采用SPSS软件中欧氏距离计算泥土样品间的差异,利用主成分分析法进行样品归类.结果 确定了不同空间距离样品间差异的欧氏距离的阈值.主成分分析法可对225个泥土进行较为准确的分类.结论 欧氏距离值可为泥土样品的比对提供量化比对依据,利用主成分分析法可推断未知泥土样品的来源.  相似文献

Estimation of stature from various foot and shoe measurements with the help of statistical methods is well known. However, very little work has been reported on stature estimation from stride length. As the stride length may vary in different walking speeds, in the present paper, stride length of individuals were measured while walking fast on smooth substrate has been compared with the stride length in the normal pattern of walking. Although the formulae derived are different for faster pace, the range of error in estimation of stature remains almost the same.  相似文献

Soil is a remarkably complex, diverse, ubiquitous, and easily transferred material which can reveal highly useful information to assist forensic investigations. In spite of its potential usefulness, the use of genetic soil analysis appears to be currently underestimated in forensic practice. Herein we report on the use of single arbitrarily primed amplification followed by high throughput sequencing of DNA fragments for the comparison of soil samples. The composition and functional attributes of soil microbial communities from three different locations were compared and shown to be different based on the metagenomic sequencing data obtained.  相似文献

目的利用牙齿磨耗不同的分类方法分别推断上、下颌的牙齿年龄,分析各种方法推断上、下颌牙齿年龄的误差,评价上、下颌牙齿用于年龄推断的准确性。方法采用分级法与数量化法分别对164名18~46岁之间的成年人进行牙龄推断,计算出推断牙龄与实际年龄的误差,输入SPSS软件对误差的数据进行统计学分析。结果分别使用不同方法对上、下颌牙齿磨耗程度进行年龄推断的结果差别不大。结论上、下颌牙齿用于牙齿磨耗推断年龄的准确性无明显差异。  相似文献

Microbiologic analysis of different soil samples was undertaken to assess the value of this method for forensic purposes. Three groups of micro-organisms were isolated on selective media: bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes. Comparison of the morphology of the colonies led to the conclusion of non identity of the soil samples under examination. The method was applied to soil traces on articles of clothing, trousers, shoes, and stockings. It was found that the soil did not originate from the suspected scene of a crime. Examination of the microbiologic soil composition does not provide an absolute certainty of identity, but it is highly reliable.  相似文献
